Smarteh hotel automation system

Smarteh hotel automation system unites all hotel automation systems into one common communication and supervision system. Hotel automation and supervision systems are connected with standard wired or wireless network and communicating by using standard network protocols.
Beside kitchen, restaurant, office, lobby and other hotel automation systems, Guest Room Management System (GRMS) represents the most extensive one.

Software part of Smarteh hotel automation system is composed of Smarteh Access Manager (SAM) usually located on Personal Computer (PC) in reception and Building Management System (BMS) usually located on PC in maintenance center. SAM can operate in conjunction with BMS or as stand-alone software. SAM software can be upgraded to Smarteh Mobile Manager (SMM) which supports control of the hotel room by guest’s mobile devices.

Smarteh hotel room automation system or more precisely GRMS can also be extended with Self check in kiosk usually located in hotel entrance lobby as supplement for reception staff. There are various possibilities that Smarteh hotel automation system specially GRMS can communicate with any Hotel Management System (HMS).

Wired & Wireless networks

Smarteh hotel automation system is supporting various wired and wireless standard communications like Ethernet Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet BACnet, Modbus RTU, CANopen, EnOcean, Infrared IR, etc.

Communication usage examples:

  • Ethernet BACnet for communication between hotel automation and supervision systems.
  • Wifi for hotel guests to control hotel room parameters with mobile devices.
  • EnOcean for interfacing EnOcean wireless devices as sensors, actuators, etc. into the automation system
  • Infrared IR interface to control various types of IR controlled devices as air conditioning units etc.

Wired and wireless concepts can be combined to optimize technical and functional demands.

Guest Room Management System (GRMS)

Guest Room Management System (GRMS) from Smarteh is designed to fulfill two main goals:
the hotel guest must experience the maximum comfort and security while on the other hand the hotel operator must be able to obtain a high level of energy efficiency and optimize the work flow.

With the GRMS from Smarteh the energy efficiency will improve to the highest level, without compromises to the comfort of the hotel guest. With innovative automation solution for temperature regulation, lighting, shading, room access management and other, Smarteh has created an easy to use and state of the art solution.

Hotel room functions

Standard electrical installations

There are no restrictions in terms of the choice of switches, sockets and push buttons; customers can choose the ones they like. System is based on concept of classic automation and can be electrically connected to peripheral elements (buttons, lighting, etc.) with the use of standard electrical signals.

Peripheral elements use the same concept as standard electrical installations. Electromagnetic radiation is minimal due to the use of a classic approach to automation. All switches are connected with low-voltage signals.

There is a possibility of changing the system from standard wiring to automated system as the peripheral elements can remain the same or at least they are similar. Maintenance of our system and periphery usually does not require an expert which makes it less expensive (less labour and material costs).

Contemporary design

Special attention was paid to create a user interface peripheral modules of an attractive design that suits even the most demanding standards of a modern hotel room and the rest of the hotel premises.

We offer a wide range of user interface products for access, temperature control, etc. to meet design and functionality demands. From 2,1” colour LCD Standard and Comfort intelligent peripheral modules to the latest Luxury 4,3” and 7” colour LCD glass capacitive touch screens.

For Standard user interface intelligent peripheral modules there are many different cover plates available and can adapt to any kind of client’s colour or material requirements like metal, leather, stone, glass, wood or plastic. On any Smarteh user interface module with colour LCD customized background picture and i.e. hotel logo can be added.

Comfort frameless and Luxury range of glass touch screens offers an intuitive, clear and flexible user interface between a guest and hotel room. Multi screen pictures, menus, control buttons, statuses images, etc. can easily be designed and programmed to the individual high-level graphical design and functional requirements.

In addition to all standard hotel room functionalities Smarteh modern frameless 4,3“ and 7“ glass touch panels offer a whole new level of comfort in one place:

Efficient energy saving

A hotel comprises of many different spaces with diverse usage. Smarteh hotel automation solution offers outstanding options for assuring energy efficient and environmentally friendly operation at receptions, in public areas, seminar rooms, conference centers, health and fitness areas, restaurants, kitchens, service areas, outdoor facilities and above all guest rooms.

In accordance to the European standard EN 15232 the potential savings for thermal and electrical energy can be calculated for each class based on the building type and building purpose.
For example, by using Building Automation and Control System (BACS) class A, so comprehensive building automation inclusive network and BMS, up to 30% of the thermal energy can be saved.

Simplified & Flexible room control

Smarteh room control philosophy is based on a freely programmable, modular PLC controller. With this approach, any hotel room system can easily and effectively be automatized.

The size and complexity of the room are not a problem, depending on the number of functions and electrical inputs and outputs it is easy to select the optimal combination of controller modules.

Same modules for entire hotel complex

Main control module of Smarteh open Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) known as LPC-2 is the heart of the Smarteh hotel automation systems. Its purpose is to execute application program and to exchange data with added input output, communication and peripheral modules. The controller is powered directly from main 230 / 115 V AC power supply.

Smarteh modular controller design allows that same equipment can be used to control the entire facility like hotel rooms, corridors, utility rooms, kitchens, etc.

The room controller can work as a stand-alone or can be connected to the BMS, SAM or other supervision softwares in order to make the functioning transparent and fully efficient. In most cases all the room controllers are connected to the BMS through the local Ethernet network. This reduces the costs of installation since there is no need for pulling and testing additional communication cables.

Easy maintenance

While all hotel automation systems are connected to one network, are using equal Smarteh building automation equipment and are supervised by a common supervision system, it is easier and much cheaper when it comes to maintenance during the operation of the hotel.

Due to the above advantage, the Smarteh hotel automation system is enabling the use of unified spare parts for the entire building.

Free software & Support for all standard PLC languages

Unique Smarteh Integrated Development Environment (IDE) software enhances composing of Smarteh controller’s configuration and programming of application and graphical user interface software.

Smarteh IDE supports all five IEC-61131-3 standard PLC programming languages:
Ladder diagram (LD), Structured Text (ST), Function Block Diagram (FBD), Instruction List (IL) and Sequential Function Chart (SFC).

Composing, programming and debugging of Smarteh controllers using Smarteh IDE is completely free of charge. Loading application software locally or remotely from PC to controller does not require any additional software or hardware keys and no fee is charged to install and commission Smarteh PLC devices.

Smarteh Access Manager (SAM)

The access system is one of the top priority security segments in hotels and other business buildings. Implementing an online network controlled locking system, the user or guest will feel safe and comfortable and the hotel management will have an online powerful tool for complete supervision over the access in the hotel.

Smarteh Access Manager (SAM) is usually running on PC in reception and can operate as stan-alone or in conjunction with Building Management System (BMS) software. USB Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) contactless card reader for key-card assignment is attached. PC with installed SAM is connected to the network and forward to Smarteh controllers in hotel rooms and other access points. So access to hotel rooms, halls, swimming pools, etc. can be controlled.
The online concept enables real-time features as online key-card access assignment, online monitoring and logging of all access events.

Smarteh Mobile Manager (SMM)

Depends on chosen Smarteh automation solution, hotel guests can control available functions in their hotel rooms using standard electric switches or by Smarteh multi-functional touch switch panels.

For guests who want to take control of their hotel staying a step further Smarteh have designed Smarteh Mobile Manager (SMM) to control available room functions by their mobile device. Room guests simply open their favorite web browser and log in to Smarteh Mobile Manager (SMM) with „Room ID“ and „Password“ provided by the hotel receptionist or operator.

Through an intuitive and easy to use interface the guest can locally and remotely control room functions, such as temperature, ventilation, lighting, shades, room statuses, environment scenarios and many more.

Hotel Management System (HMS)

Smarteh hotel automation system and particularity GRMS part is connected with Hotel Management System (HMS). HMS is powerful software application that performs essential financial and organizational functions for hotels, motels and other forms of lodging. These functions include reservations, employee scheduling, accounting, property/maintenance management and customer relationship management.

Smarteh Fidelio interface based on FIAS protocol and certified by MICROS-Fidelio corporation is a software application typically used as interface between the HMS and the Smarteh hotel automation system.

In case that the HMS of the hotel is not supporting the FIAS protocol at all, the interfacing between the HMS and the Smarteh hotel automation system can be done by using the SQL or similar database.

Building Management System (BMS)

Building Management System (BMS) offers advanced supervision control over all automation systems of the hotel and is part of the Smarteh hotel automation system.

BMS software is used in buildings to control and monitor the building’s mechanical and electrical equipment systems such as Heating Ventilation and Air-conditioning (HVAC), lighting, power systems, fire systems, access control, security systems and others.

BMS is a graphical interface to all automation processes running in all spaces of the hotel, from hotel rooms to restaurants, kitchens, corridors, offices and many others.

Energy Management System

Granlund Manager combines energy efficiency and building maintenance in a unique way. It consolidates data from different energy sources into easy understandable statistics, producing important information for energy follow-up. External energy data can either be read manually or automatically imported from different sources, such as BMS systems.
